The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila has assured the people of Dar es Salaam that all the infrastructure damaged by the rain will be restored as soon as possible.
RC Chalamila said this yesterday at his press conference held at his office in Ilala Boma in Dar es Salaam.
He mentioned the roads and bridges damaged by the rain as including the Mtongani and Kunduchi roads. On the bridge side, he mentioned that it is the Mbweni Bridge JKT, Mbopo, Goba, Makulunza, Kivule, Msumi and added that contractors are already at work to ensure services are available quickly.
Chalamila said that Dar es Salaam is safe, it has NOT been destroyed and what happened is normal and the Regional Government continues to coordinate it.
Regarding those who built in the valleys, he has asked them to move immediately because they are endangering their lives and also the consequences of continuing to live there are great.
Similarly, RC Chalamila has banned all those who do humanitarian activities along the banks of rivers and said that some of the roads that are broken or washed away are due to humanitarian activities.
Chalamila has emphasized that the big Sanitation Campaign of January 23 and 24 this year will continue as planned and is not a political campaign, so it should not be associated with preventing demonstrations where government agencies will perform Sanitation in their areas and road areas, contractors, various groups and all other stakeholders will perform Sanitation. is to prevent epidemic diseases including cholera.
