The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila has banned the illegal gathering and roaming of people in various areas of the Dar es Salaam region.
Chalamila made the statement yesterday and mentioned some places where people should not roam around like Tanzanite bridge and Ubungo and mentioned that the people who lead roaming around are street children and beggars where he has instructed the District Heads to drive them away and arrest others.
He said in his meeting with government officials held at the Golden Jubilee Hall, which was about precautions against epidemic diseases and hygiene. He will distribute sanitary equipment on January 20 and 21 this year in dollar containers to prepare for the cleanliness exercise in the Dar es Salaam region that is expected to take place on January 23 and 24 this year.
RC Chalamila has said that the Government has invested more than 3 Trillion in many childcare centers for the disabled in the country and Dar es Salaam has a large childcare center for the disabled as well.
He has said that it has been found that disability is currently a capital where those who are not disabled go to collect the disabled and then take them on a bicycle where in the evening they take what has been collected by the disabled and give the disabled a small amount of money between Tsh 3,000/- to 5,000/- per day.
Chalamila has said that regarding the seizure of garbage vehicles, he has called a meeting between himself and the Chairman of the contractors, a small group of contractors, ZPC, ZTO so that after the meeting joint instructions will be given that will help the vehicles go quickly.
He has said that Dar es Salaam is a commercial city, so Cholera should not spread completely and that is why he has called on stakeholders to help with the availability of Sanitation equipment and the district heads to ensure that the officials manage cleanliness every week.
He has asked the district heads and directors to ensure that dirt does not remain in the area for a long time, Ras and District Heads to run the landfill in partnership and that the payment of waste tax should be done on time and without coercion.
The district heads of Dar es Salaam region have said that they have received all the instructions and promised to act on them.
And the Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam Region, Dr. Mohamed Mang’, said that in order to control epidemic diseases such as cholera and smallpox, all councils should provide education and sustainable principles about health at all levels.
He said Dawasa continues to treat the water used by the community,
waste removal should be done on time, avoid eating food prepared in dirty environments, citizens should boil drinking water, citizens should pay attention to hygiene and sanitation, eat hot food, cooked food should be stored well and wash fruits with clean and safe water
