The Political Committee of the CCM Dar es Salaam Region has asked the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) to plan properly to repair roads damaged by rain and potholes, to repair them quickly before they cause more damage.
The Political Committee of CCM, Dar es Salaam Region issued the order yesterday during a visit to visit and inspect road projects implemented by TARURA in various areas of Dar es Salaam Region.
The roads visited and inspected are Kinzudi to Goba in Ubungo District, Jamirex to Mwenge in Kinondoni District and Chanika to Homboza in Ilala District.
Speaking on behalf of CCM, Chairman of CCM Dar es Salaam, Abbas Mtevu has said that the party is satisfied with the way TARURA is implementing the construction of road infrastructure in the region, where he has given instructions to increase efforts to deal with the speed of the rains that continue to fall.
The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila has said that the areas that have major challenges are Ubungo and Kigamboni Districts and that President Dr. Samia has already approved funds through the second phase of DMDP which will reduce road challenges to a large extent in those districts.
Chalamila has said that in response to the damage to the infrastructure caused by the rains that continue to fall, the Region has already planned to build the infrastructure as soon as the rains end to avoid unnecessary losses, perhaps only to the area that will be seen and necessary during the rainy season, the Region will do so.
TARURA Manager Dar es Salaam, Engineer Godfrey Mkinga said TARURA manages the Road Network with a total length of 5,059.05 Kilometers, the network is divided into three main parts, Feeder Roads, Collector Roads and Community Roads. where he said that among them, 610.69 Kilometers are asphalt/concrete roads, 1,642.90 Kilometers are gravel roads and 2,805.48 Kilometers are clay roads.
