The Minister of Water, Mr. Jumaa Aweso has called on experts in the Ministry of Water to ensure that they increase the intensity of in-depth water research in Dodoma City to help provide clean and safe water to the citizens of Dodoma City.
Minister Aweso said yesterday while inspecting the Nala water projects costing Tsh 3.8 billion and the Drilling of Wells in Nkuhungu Ward and other areas of the City, a project worth Tsh 41 billion.
“It is the instructions of the President, Dr. Samia Hassan to ensure that we solve the water challenge in Dodoma and that is why more than Tsh 45 billion has been allocated to provide water.
I am directing the ministry’s experts to ensure that a detailed study is carried out on water availability in Dodoma City by drilling deep wells in various areas”, said Mr. Aweso.
He said that drilling rigs should be added here in Dodoma and that the team of experts who were in charge of the Same Mwanga project should now move to Dodoma until we ensure that we increase sufficient water sources.
The Member of Parliament for Dodoma Urban, Mr. Anthony Mavunde, has appreciated the steps being taken by the government to address the water shortage and said that these two projects, when completed, will increase water production to 121 million liters per day, thus leaving 28 million liters to meet the daily water demand.
