The government has said it will timely completed a project to connect them to the National Grid, Tanzania and Zambia (TAZA) involving the construction of a 400 -kilometer stress from Iringa to Sumbawanga due to the importance of the Rukwa connecting project with a grid that currently uses diesel fuel.
This was stated on March 19, 2025 by Deputy Minister Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga during a visit to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals to review the implementation of the construction of the Kisada Iringa Electricity Center which is part of the project.
“Projects that are being undertaken by the sixth phase government are indeed strategic projects, Mr. President promised the Rukwa region and to enter the grid through this project,” said Mrs. Kapinga

He said the TAZA project is crucial in strengthening the availability of electricity in the country while citing the Songwe region in which some areas have access to electricity in the Mbeya region and has been traveling long distances thus facing the challenges of access to electricity.
The government has provided approximately Shillings 21.4 billion for payments to 6,279 citizens whose areas have been taken for project construction.
5,929 citizens equivalent to 94.43 percent have been paid and the government continues to pay the remaining citizens.
Regarding the pure energy of cooking, grandmother. Kapinga has assured the citizens of Mufindi District to benefit from the subsidy jars which, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan offers it to every district in the country.
Mrs. Kapinga said in each district there is approximately 3,255 which will be available at a half -price price of Shs. 20,825 from shillings 45,000 per pitcher.
It emphasized that the government’s intention is to ensure reliable and predictable electricity reach all citizens so that they can benefit from economic activities.
