Petroleum Commissioner, Mr. Goodluck Shirima has said that Tanzania is well-prepared to develop friendly policies that will further attract investment in the Oil and Natural Gas sector which will also enable it to obtain capital to run the sector effectively.
Commissioner Shirima said this in Dar es Salaam during the East African Community Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE’25) which is being held for three days in Dar es Salaam.
“At the EAPCE’25 Conference, we discussed the importance of having contracts that are transparent, predictable and beneficial to the country and investors.
Banks and financial institutions are ready and eager to finance these projects, our role as the Government is to create the right environment through our policies and laws”, said, Mr. Shirima
Regarding the Oil Sector in the country, he said it has improved as oil is available and available at good prices and that now the price of oil unloading at all ports is the same with the aim of reducing costs for Tanzanians.
Regarding the central petroleum pipeline, Mr. Shirima said the Government continues to have strategic projects for the transportation of oil and gas where the Governments of Tanzania and Zambia are in talks to build a new oil pipeline that will also help distribute oil in the areas where it passes such as Morogoro, Njombe and Mbeya.
He said there are ongoing talks with the Government of Uganda to build a pipeline to transport clean oil from Tanzania to Uganda and also the construction of a gas pipeline to the country which will also distribute gas to the areas where it passes.
He said under the strong leadership of the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, the projects will be implemented effectively.
The Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference, Engineer Joyce Kisamo from the Ministry of Energy said that the conference which was successfully conducted was attended by Leaders at various levels from the level of Ministers, Secretaries as well as Sector Experts from 6 East African countries.
