69 percent of revenue collected within 8 months

•19,371 Tanzanians gain employment in mines •Value of mine sales reaches 91.68

The Minerals Commission has succeeded in collecting 690,763,401,639.06 Shillings within eight months, equivalent to 69.08 percent of the target for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Describing the achievements of the Minerals Commission over the four-year period on March 4, 2025, the Executive Secretary of the Minerals Commission, Engineer Ramadhani Lwamo, said that the collection of revenue from resources has increased from 624.61 billion Shillings collected in the 2021/2022 Financial Year to 753.82 billion Shillings for the 2023/2024 financial year.

He said that these collections are equivalent to an increase of 20.7 percent of collections for three years.

“In addition, during the period from July 2024 to February 2025, the Commission has successfully collected a total of 690,763,401,639.06 shillings, equivalent to 69.08 percent of the target for the 2024/2025 Financial Year”, said Engineer Lwamo.

He said, the contribution of the Mining Sector to the National GDP has increased from 7.2 percent in 2021 to 9.0 percent in 2023.

“This is due to the improvement in the management of various mining activities, the growth of the mining sector has increased from 9.4 percent in 2021 to 11.3 percent in 2023,” he said.

He said that in order to continue strengthening the mining sector, the trend of the mining sector’s contribution and its growth is expected to reach 10 percent this year 2025 as stated in the National Development Vision 2025.

He said, the Ministry of Minerals through the Mining Commission in collaboration with Regional Administrative Authorities and Local Governments in the country has continued to supervise the functioning of Mineral Markets and Mineral Procurement Centers in the country, as of February, 2025, the Mining Commission in collaboration with RALGM has successfully established 43 markets and 109 mineral procurement centers.

He said a total of 1,076 Plans for the participation of Tanzanians in the mining sector have been received and analyzed.

“Of the plans submitted, 1,047 met the criteria and were approved and 29 plans did not meet the criteria so they were returned to the parties for revision”, said Lwamo.

He said the Mining Commission has continued to fully manage the availability of jobs for Tanzanians from various mining companies where the companies have been able to generate 19,874 jobs where of those 19,371 are Tanzanians equivalent to 97.5 percent and 503 are foreigners equivalent to 2.5 percent of all jobs generated.

“Likewise, a total of products worth US Dollars (USD) 3,780,161,183.28 were sold and distributed to mines where out of those products Tanzanian companies managed to sell products worth US Dollars (USD) 3,465,592,451.28 equivalent to 91.68 percent of the sales value of all products and services provided to mines,” he said.

Engineer Lwamo said the Mining Commission has continued to allocate specific areas for small-scale miners where it has successfully allocated 58 areas in various regions.
