Industrial minerals, gold and construction minerals boost Mbeya

Government revenue collection through the Mbeya Region Mining Sector from royalties, levies and various fees for the financial year that began July 2024/2025 has reached 2.3 billion shillings, equivalent to 63 percent of the annual target.

These collections are equivalent to 108 percent of the target for the seven-month period (July, 2024 to January, 2025).

Speaking on behalf of the Mbeya Region Resident Minerals Officer, Mining Engineer, Mr. William Kajumla said Mbeya Region was set to collect 3.7 billion shillings.

He said the major revenue in Mbeya Region comes from industrial minerals, gold and construction minerals as well as revenue from various road projects.

“We rely on income from the TOL Gas Rungwe factory and the Mbeya Cement Factory for industrial minerals but also gold trading and small-scale construction minerals mining”, he stressed.

Engineer Kajumla has called on Tanzanians to seize investment opportunities in Mbeya Region, especially in the construction mining sector, coal in Ngana Kyela and Rungwe and investment opportunities in gold mining and processing in the areas of Mabadaga, Msesule and Madibira in Mbarali District and Lwanjiro, Ileya, Ishinda and Chikula in Mbeya District.
