Prime Minister – Quality of projects should be in line with the value of the money provided

THE PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has called on the managers of projects implemented by the Government, including education, to ensure that they are completed on time and with a quality that is in line with the value of the money provided.

He made the call, January 06, 2025 during the opening of Makoba Secondary School located in the Northern Unguja Region, Zanzibar.

The opening of the school is part of the festivities leading up to the 61st anniversary of the Glorious Revolution of Zanzibar.

He said the Government has continued to allocate financial resources for the development of the education sector which has largely enabled it to create a better environment for access to education, including the construction of infrastructure.

The Prime Minister said that during the 61 years of the Glorious Revolution of Zanzibar, the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has continued to give status to the education sector by ensuring the effectiveness of the provision of educational services.

“I have no doubt that today, under General Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, we are all witnessing the continuation of a major step towards increasing access to education in the country. This issue is something to be proud of because it is the Fruit of the Revolution which is now 61 years since its establishment”, he said.

He said the Government led by President Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, has continued to make major educational reforms to ensure the effectiveness of the provision of educational services in the country.

“These reforms include implementing a new competency curriculum that will enable children to learn practically and cope with the rapid pace of scientific and technological change”, he said

He said the Government has continued to implement plans, strategies and make deliberate efforts to ensure that there is progress in all social sectors in order to bring the expected productivity to the citizens without any discrimination.

The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Mrs. Lela Mohamed Mussa said that President Dr. Mwinyi has continued the spirit of the Founders of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in ensuring that he brings major reforms in the Education Sector.

“This government promised to improve the infrastructure of classrooms for primary schools by building 1,000 classrooms and 500 for secondary schools and so far at the primary level it has built 2,893 classrooms and at the secondary level it has built 1,917 classrooms”, said, Mrs. Lela

The construction of schools has reached 100 percent and has cost 6.1 billion shillings which have been provided by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar led by President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
