The Government of the Sixth Phase under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, through the Muhimbili National Hospital, has conducted tests and given hepatitis vaccination to 100 health care providers of the emergency department at the Muhimbili National Hospital and 500 students of the Muhimbili College of Science (MUHAS).
The Executive Director of the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Professor Mohamed Janabi, has said that Muhimbili, in collaboration with the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), have launched a program to provide vaccination against the Hepatitis B Vaccine for the staff and students Muhimbili University of Health (MUHAS).
“Today I took part in the launch of the hepatitis test and vaccination exercise for health care providers in the emergency department of Muhimbili National Hospital and students of Muhimbili Science College,” said Professor Janabi.
He said the vaccine is very important for health care providers who are 10 times more at risk of contracting Hepatitis compared to ordinary people.
According to the WHO in 2022, more than 254 million people were living with chronic hepatitis infection, and more than 1 million people died from related diseases such as liver cancer.
Dr. Janabi has urged the people to take action now to protect themselves from the disease by getting a vaccine that is safer, better and easier to find.
