We will continue to solve the challenges of teachers – Majaliwa

PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has said that the Government of the Sixth Phase led by His Excellency, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is determined to continue solving teachers’ challenges, including debt arrears and grade promotion.

Said Mr. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan recognizes, appreciates and respects the great work done by all teachers in the country in ensuring that they participate fully in promoting and developing the education sector in the country.

He has said that, December 12, 2024 inviting His Excellency, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the 19th Meeting of the Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (TAHOSSA) held at the Jakaya Kikwete International Conference Center, Dodoma.

“Currently, the issue of teachers’ qualifications continues to be considered and the Government has continued to make great efforts to ensure that it upgrades the grades of teachers who have missed and who should be promoted, the Government is determined to remove the vocabulary of arears (salary arrears)”, he said

He said that from the year 2021/2022 to the year 2023/2024, the Government has promoted the grades of 227,383 teachers and changed the structures of 20,436 teachers.

“The Office of the President-TAMISEMI ensures that everyone who is promoted is paid their entitlements on time”, he emphasized

The Prime Minister has said that for the period 2021/22 to 2023/24, a total of 1.76 trillion shillings have been provided by the Government for strengthening school infrastructure including renovation and new construction.

“These infrastructures have helped to a certain extent to improve the teaching and learning environment, to reduce the crowding of students in classes and the risk of students walking long distances to go to school”, he said.

Speaking about the implementation of the Free Education Policy, the Honorable Prime Minister said that the Government has continued to provide 33.3 billion shillings every month for all Government Primary and Secondary schools in the country for the running of the schools as well as power allowances.

“When we started this program in 2015/16, 13.46 billion shillings were given every month, so this increase is equal to 147.26 percent. This process has been the catalyst for strengthening the enrollment and attendance of students at various levels”, he said

The Honorable Prime Minister has said that the Government, recognizing the importance of IT issues, has put efforts into building important operating systems as well as an enabling policy, legal and institutional environment.

Deputy Minister Office of the President (TAMISEMI), Dr. Festo Dugange has said that the President’s Office – TAMISEMI has planned to manage the implementation of policies and guidelines for the well-being of the Education Sector in the country.

The National Chairman of TAHOSSA, Mr. Dennis Otieno John has praised the Government for the way it manages the development of the education sector by implementing various programs including salary increases, bridge upgrades and infrastructure construction.
“We will continue to support the Government by performing our duties properly”, he said
