46.3 billion to improve infrastructure in Kigoma – Katimba Municipality

**Citizens should take care of the infrastructure that will be built **Kigoma Member of Parliament congratulates on finding a Native Contractor

The Tanzania Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project (TACTIC) Kigoma Municipality will cost 46.3 billion Tanzanian shillings.This was said by the Deputy Minister of OR-TAMISEMI, Mr. Zainab Katimba during the signing of the contract for the construction of the Main Light Market and the Katonga Fish Market in Kigoma Municipality.

Mr. Katimba said that the projects will include the construction of roads with a length of 9.51 km and rain water ditches with a total length of Km. 5.4 whose construction is ongoing.

He said the contract for the construction of the Main Market in the Mwanga area and the Fish Market in the Katonga area which will cost 16.5 billion shillings.

“It is our expectation that these projects will bring positive changes to the citizens of Kigoma Ujiji Municipality and various visitors who will benefit from services for various food and clothing needs as well as a better commercial environment”.

He added that the projects will also increase the value of the respective areas and thus lead to an increase in income for all Councils within the Kigoma Region.

However, Mr. Katimba has asked the people to take care of the infrastructure that will be built at a high cost so that it can last for a long time.

Directing the Councils with the projects to ensure that they run themselves and generate income in the relevant Halmaahauri.

And, Member of Parliament for Kigoma Urban State, Mr. Kilumbe Shaban Ng’enda said that they had been waiting for this for a long time and now it has been completed as it will help bring development to their town and make it a new Kigoma.

“We thank Hon. President Samia Suluhu Hassan for this big thing, our roads will be beautiful and we see a new Kigoma”.

“We are happy that we have found a native contractor, we believe he will work with patriotism because the people of Kigoma are ready to work with him and earn a living through the construction of these markets”, he added.
