Minister of State, Office of the President-TAMISEMI Hon. Mohamed Mchengerwa has said that a total of 26,769,995 voters have registered to vote in the Local Government Elections in 2024, equal to 81.15 percent of the target of registering 32,987,579 people if it is a few hours to reach the end of the exercise by October 20, 2024.
Minister Mchengerwa has given the assessment of the registration of voters for the Local Government elections immediately after registering at the Michikichini registration center in the Umwe North Village in the Rufiji District.
“Until today October 19, 2024, I am talking about the total enrollment for men is 13,033,988 equal to 48.69 percent and women is 13,736,007 equal to 51.31 percent of all people who registered from October 11 to October 19, 2024”, Mr. Mchengerwa has explained.
Minister Mchengerwa has explained that the registration process is good and if it continues like this, where today is the end of registration, it is clear that the goal of registering 32,987,579 voters will be reached.
He mentioned the five regions with a high percentage of enrollment until October 18, 2024, equivalent to the 8th day of enrollment, as Tanga region has reached 101.13% of the goals, Pwani region has reached 98.74% of the goals, Mwanza region has reached 94.09% of goals, Dar es Salaam region has reached 86.66% of goals and Dodoma region has reached 80.63% of goals.
The voter registration exercise for Local Government Elections was officially launched by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hasan who registered for his Sokoine Township in Chamwino Village on October 11, 2024.
Minister Mohamed Mchengerwa has taken the opportunity to ask citizens who have the qualifications to run for Local Government leadership positions, to come forward to take and return the form from October 26, 26, to November 01, 2024 so that they can fulfill their constitutional right to contest the election that will be held on November 27, 2024 .
Minister Mchengerwa has made the call to Tanzanians of merit, while giving an assessment of the registration of voters for the Local Government elections immediately after registering at the Michikichini center in Umwe North Village in Rufiji District.
Minister Mchengerwa has thanked all the citizens, members and lovers of all political parties for continuing to show political maturity by doing civilized politics, politics of arguments and not of quarrels until the recruitment exercise reaches its end.
Mr. Mchengerwa has pleaded with the government agencies to continue to ensure peace and stability throughout the Local Government Election process so that citizens can fully participate in the Local Government Elections.
Minister Mchengerwa has urged the election managers and all stakeholders of the Local Government Elections to continue to comply with the Election Laws and Regulations, so that the entire election process is conducted in accordance with the Laws and Regulations laid down
