President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that the great revolution in the port infrastructure sector aims to make Zanzibar an important shipping center and receive large ships that bring goods into the country.
President Dr. Mwinyi said this on October 18, 2024 when he opened the dry port of Maruhubi, Western Urban Region.
He said the opening of the dry port is an important step to strengthen the performance of the port as it will reduce the congestion of containers in Malindi Port.
President Dr. Mwinyi has explained that the changes in the Port Infrastructure will bring a great impetus to the growth of Zanzibar’s Economy and urged stakeholders to support these efforts.
President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the Africa Global Logistic company that operates the port of Malindi is currently continuing to bring about major operational changes that increase efficiency and make it easier for businessmen to carry out their duties without disruption and save time.
He has assured the people that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar will continue to work more with the private sector because apart from coming with capital they also come with expertise and political technologies that stimulate efficiency in performance.
President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the Government is continuing with the construction of the Mangapwani Integrated Port by making it capable of serving more ships and international companies bringing oil tankers to the port.
