PRIME MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has said that the Government continues to implement the five-year Strategic Plan 2024/25 – 2029/30 for space that will enable Tanzania to launch satellites.
He said that the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology has received a research project to enable satellite launch managed by the United Nations Institute for Space Affairs in collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
He said that, October 17, 2024 when he represented the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Summit of the Eighth Annual IT Conference, held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Center, Dar es Salaam.
“In this area, preparations for the formulation of Policies, Laws and the ratification of international agreements on outer space issues are ongoing”, Mr. Majaliwa has called on the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology to gather creative young people capable of designing technologies that are useful for the Nation.
“But supervise these researches that produce results and those young people should continue to be given opportunities and these works should enter the community and start being used”, said Majalia.
Mr. Majaliwa has instructed the Ministry of Communications, Information and Information Technology to supervise and ensure the construction of Innovation Hubs in the approved regions is done as planned.
Mr. Majaliwa has said that digital transformation is a must and the journey should not leave anyone behind, especially in the integrated financial system.
The government in 2020 launched the N-Card System which has so far succeeded in connecting at least four million citizens.
The system has helped to save wastage of money in transportation centers and has also helped to increase the scope of revenue collection.
