Deputy Minister of Information, Communications and Information Technology, Mrs. Maryprisca Mahundi has said that the country is going to witness a major reform of environmental care through the Strategy for the Use of Clean Energy for Cooking, whose leader is the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Solution Hassan.

Mrs. Mahundi has said this in Dodoma City while encouraging citizens to abandon the use of unclean energy and start modern cooking through clean cooking energy.

“When we say that we should take care of the environment, we can see that approximately 469,000 hectares of forests are burning a year because of various human activities, including the use of unclean energy for cooking (wood and charcoal), so when we use clean energy for cooking, we are going to take care of our environment”, said Bib. Checks

Mrs. Mahundi said apart from the damage to the environment that has been occurring due to the use of unclean energy, there has also been an impact on consumers, especially the respiratory system affected by the heavy smoke.

Mrs. Mahundi added that more than 33,000 Tanzanians lose their lives every year due to the use of unclean energy.

Mrs. Mahundi has said that in the use of clean cooking energy such as gas and electricity, all kinds of food can be cooked and emphasized that clean cooking energy is not a luxury but goes to protect the health of consumers as well as the environment.
