IHI provides medical equipment for children MNH-Mlonganzila

Muhimbili National Hospital Mlonganzila received medical equipment support from the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) under the NEST 360 project which aims to improve services for infants who are cared for in the special care unit for infants under 28 days.

The aid provided includes light therapy machines (phototherapy machines), temperature monitoring machines for infants and other medical equipment that are used to provide services in that unit, the total of which is approximately TZS 53 Mil.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Executive Director MNH, Assistant Director of Integrative Medicine Services. Dr. Lulu Sakafu has thanked the institution for the support and added that it will help improve children’s services and thus they have adopted the philosophy of good customer service in practice.

“We thank them (NEST360) for recognizing the importance of babies for being
they are the nation of tomorrow, this support will help in strengthening the unit for caring for infants born under 28 days (NICU)” said Dr. Lulu.

Coordinator of the Sustainable Improvement of Health Services through the NEST360 program implemented by the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) Dr. Robert Tillya, has said that they will continue to provide assistance as much as possible to continue supporting the hospital’s efforts to improve services and reduce infant mortality.

Pediatrician MNH-Mloganzila has said that 80 percent of children born under 28 days get jaundice, so the machines will increase the number of machines and enable many children to be served at the same time.
