TRC apologizes to Dar – Dodoma passengers for the late arrival

The Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) has apologized for the fast-moving electric passenger train ‘SGR’ from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma that stopped for two hours and caused the passengers to arrive late in Dodoma, on time due to an electrical fault.

The statement issued today by TRC and signed by the Chief Officer of the Division of Relations, Mrs. Jamila Mbarouk has been criticized on social media and has said that TRC apologizes for the problem that causes great inconvenience to its passengers.

The statement said that the investigation that the TRC has done has discovered that the cause of the error is living creatures that live in the wild where the infrastructure of the TRC has passed and explained that it is believed that animals such as Ngedere or Owls have caused the error.

It said that the said creatures, at around 4:20 pm, touched the electric cables spread over the railway ‘overhead catenary system’ and caused the electricity to be cut off at the electrical paralysis station number seven ‘Godegode’, technically known as ‘Instantaneous overcurrent Protection Trip’.

Even so, the statement said that the TRC technicians managed to solve the problem and restore electricity at around 6:30 pm and the train continued its journey and was able to reach Dodoma at 7:57 pm.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan expects to launch the International Standard Railway Train ‘SGR’ August 01, 2024.
