THE Secretary General of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Ambassador Emmanuel John Nchimbi has banned a song that denigrates and incites hatred against opposition parties and has ordered that it not be used by CCM anywhere as they should be a role model to promote love, unity and solidarity in the country.
Ambassador Nchimbi took the step while addressing thousands of citizens of Shirati Town, Rorya District, at a public meeting held at Obwele Stadium, April 25, 2025, on the fourth day of his working visit to Mara Region.
Before making the statement, Ambassador Nchimbi reminded citizens who were listening to him of the famous song used by Tanzanian soldiers in the Kagera War, when they captured and beat Nduli Idi Amin Dada, the former President of Uganda, after invading Tanzania’s borders.
“Do you remember the song that was sung during the Kagera War…If Idi Amin dies, I cannot cry, I will throw him to Kagera, let him be crocodile food…now please listen to another song here, then I will say what I want to say here,” said Ambassador Nchimbi.
Using his phone to play the song and letting the citizens listen through the loudspeaker he was using to address them, people were heard singing a song similar to the one against Nduli Amin, while they had changed the words and put in others that aimed to ridicule and incite hatred against the opposition political parties in the country.
“I am using this opportunity to continue to emphasize peace, unity, solidarity. This year is a general election. It is a year with many temptations. It is very important for people, especially politicians, to weigh their statements. Whether they are CCM politicians or other parties, it is very important that they make statements that aim to strengthen our nationhood. We must protect our nationhood with great jealousy”,
“These words in this song are words that build hatred. They do not build love. I ban this song. We, CCM, have a great responsibility in this country. We must lead by example. We must unite people. We must not be a source of violence. CCM is the father and mother of democracy in the country,” Ambassador Nchimbi said emphatically.
Ambassador Nchimbi, apart from making the call to CCM, also advised leaders and members of opposition parties, “All of us, CCM and opposition parties, should refrain from statements that incite hatred, violence and violence. Even if we hear an opposition leader making provocative statements, we should seek out his brothers in Singida, to be your brother’s advisor wherever he takes us, I am not there”, he said
Ambassador Nchimbi instructed the Minister of Works, Mr. Abdalla Ulega, to assure the people of Rorya at the meeting via telephone about the implementation of the construction of the 56-kilometer Mika – Utegi – Shirati – Kirongwe Road project, which has already been announced and will begin construction by the end of this month, as soon as a contractor is found.
