Zanzibar President lays foundation stone for Kibada, Mwasonga to Kimbiji Road

-It is 'Shamra Shamra' for the 61st anniversary of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ally Mwinyi has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 41-kilometer Kibada, Mwasonga to Kimbiji road and ordered it to be completed on time and to standards while emphasizing the issue of peace in the country as it is the basis for the improvement of all projects.

Speaking, April 25,2025 in Kigamboni District in Dar es Salaam at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Kibada-Mwasonga to Kimbiji road to asphalt level, President Dr. Hussen Mwinyi said that the presence of peace is what enabled the construction of the Kibada road and many others, so it is important to continue maintaining peace, where he has ordered it to be completed on time and to quality.

Speaking about the issue of the Union, Dr. Mwinyi thanked and congratulated President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to continue to maintain the Union and continue to resolve the Union’s grievances, which has further strengthened unity.

Before welcoming him, the President of Zanzibar to speak, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Construction, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Jerry Silaa said that the road has been a long-standing cry of the people and now with the construction it is going to open up Kigambani economically by enabling investors to work effectively.

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila has assured the President of Zanzibar that the Region is safe and will continue to be safe despite the presence of political unrest while congratulating President Dr. Samia for facilitating the construction of the road and facilitating important projects including electricity in parallel and congratulating President Mwinyi for improving infrastructure and various development projects in Zanzibar.

Giving a report on the construction of the 41-kilometer road, TANROAD Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Muhammed Besta said the construction of the road has been divided into two parts costing 83.8 billion shillings under the contractor Estim Company and construction has already reached 30 percent.

The inauguration is part of the 61st anniversary celebrations of the United Republic of Tanzania under the theme “Our Unity, Honor and National Dignity’ Participate in the 2025 General Elections”.
