Dar es Salaam starts providing 10% loans to entrepreneurs

-Hands over a check of more than 5.5 Billion

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila, on April 24, 2025, launched the provision of 10% loans to Women, Youth and People with Disabilities of the Temeke Municipal Council at the Mwembe Yanga grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Chalamila said that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has facilitated the interest-free loans with the aim of economically uplifting the residents of Temeke District, so the loans must be repaid to provide opportunities for other people to obtain the loans.

Mr. Chalamila has advised the people of Temeke to stop blaming the Government unless they use the challenges as opportunities.

“You find someone from Kigoma on the outskirts, comes to the city, sells goods, the next day he becomes a big businessman, but someone who is a native of Temeke remains to blame the Government every day”, said Mr. Chalamila.

Mr. Chalamila has had the opportunity to visit various stalls of entrepreneurs who benefit from 10% loans to see the products manufactured by these entrepreneurs.

The Mayor of the Municipality, Mr. Abdallah Mtinika has thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for facilitating the issuance of the loans, saying that there were complaints of delays in issuing loans, but what has delayed is putting in place a good procedure that will enable good coordination of loans so that borrowers can repay and provide opportunities for others to borrow.
