82 Subdistricts in Tarime Rural to be electrified by HEP IIB project – Kapinga

📌3000 institutions connected to electricity with Covid 19 funds

82 subdistricts that are not yet connected to electricity in Tarime District will be electrified through the Subdistrict Electrification Project Phase II B (HEP IIB) where the tender for the project has already been announced and is expected to be opened soon.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga, April 22, 2025 in Dodoma while responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Tarime Rural, Mr. Mwita Waitara who wanted to know when all the subdistricts in Tarime will receive electricity.

Mrs. Kapinga said that the Tarime Rural Constituency has a total of 500 subdistricts where 225 subdistricts already have electricity, 52 subdistricts have contractors and are continuing their work.

He said that 82 sub-districts have been awarded contracts through the Second Phase B Sub-district Electrification Project (HEP IIB) and the remaining 141 sub-districts will continue to be electrified through future projects.

Ms. Kapinga continued to say that regarding the Government’s plan to connect various institutions to electricity through Covid-19 project funds, the Government has already started implementing the plan, where to date more than 3000 institutions have been connected to electricity, including educational, health, religious, mining and water well institutions.

He also said that the Government through the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) has continued to provide electricity to the public through various electricity projects.
