The Minister of Water, Mr. Jumaa Aweso said that President, Dr. Samia Hassan has directed the implementation of water projects worth 45 Billion to solve the water challenge in Dodoma City while awaiting the implementation of the projects to bring water through Lake Victoria and the Farkwa Dam project.
Minister Aweso said this yesterday while witnessing the signing of a contract for the water supply project through Nzuguni A water wells worth Tsh 5bn which is expected to benefit 123,095 people.
He said that your MP brought a request to, Dr. President Samia on the drilling of deep wells during the meeting of Dr. President at Mpunguzi and we, the Ministry, received instructions which we have worked on.
He said that we thank, Dr. President Samia for addressing the water issue here in Dodoma City by directing the implementation of water projects worth more than Tsh 45bn which will greatly help reduce the problem of water allocation in various areas.
DUWASA continues with the implementation of other projects such as Nala (3.8bn), UDOM, (1.2bn), Government City (35.6bn), the Ministry of Water in collaboration with its institutions (DUWASA and RUWASA) has formed teams that continue with Groundwater Research and Drilling of wells in the areas of Mzakwe, Nzuguni, Kisasa, Nkuhungu, Miganga, Zuzu, Msalato and Ihumwa.
“I am here in Dodoma City and tomorrow I will begin a special visit to inspect the implementation of these projects so that the people of Dodoma can get reliable water”, said Minister Aweso.
Dodoma Urban Constituency Member of Parliament, Mr. Anthony Mavunde said the implementation of the Nzunguni distribution project will help reduce the hardship of water distribution for the people of Nkuhungu, Miganga, Chidachi, Nzuguni, Kisasa-Bwawani, Mwangaza, Ipagala, Ilazo, and Swaswa, Mpamaa and Njedengwa areas.
The Director of Dodoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DUWASA) Eng. Aron Joseph said this project aims to serve about 123,095 people in the aforementioned areas.
The completion of this project will lead to an increase in production from 81 million to 91 million liters per day, equivalent to a 30% increase from the Nzuguni source.
