The government will distribute electricity service to all Institutions

📌 1,272 Institutions connected to Lindi Electricity

Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga said the government’s priority is to ensure that all institutions that provide social, economic and religious services are accessible with electricity during the implementation of rural electricity projects.

Mrs. Kapinga said this, April 11, 2025 in Parliament in Dodoma while responding to the question of the Special Assembly Member, Mrs. Maimuna Pathan wanted to know when the Government would complete the supply of electricity to all the existing religious institutions in the Lindi region.

“As of March 2025, a total of 1,272 institutions have been connected to electricity in the Lindi region and mentioned that 259 dispensaries, 42 health centers, 9 hospitals, 554 primary schools, 151 secondary schools and 257 religious institutions (142 mosques and 115 churches)”, said Mrs. Kapinga

She said through projects that are being implemented and managed by the Rural Energy Agency (REA), 27 institutions are expected to be provided with electricity in the region.

Responding to the question of Mbogwe MP, Mr. Nicodemas Maganga who asked about churches and mosques for no electricity and what plan the government has to send to those institutions, Mrs. Kapinga said the institutions would be accessible with electricity through the suburbs of the suburbs in Mbogwe province.

Responding to the additional question of the Special Assembly Member of the Special Chairs in Shinyanga Region, Dr. Christina Mzava on behalf of Kishapu MP, Mr. Boniphace Butondo wanted to know what the government’s statement on the county has not been connected to Kahama and Shinyanga?

Mrs. Kapinga said the government has strategies to keep electricity projects around cities so that citizens can be connected to electricity at an affordable price.

Responding to the basic question of Kishapu MP, Mr. Boniphace Butondo on when the remaining 42 villages of Kishapu district will be provided with electricity, Mrs. Kapinga said Kishapu State has a total of 117 villages, as of March 30, 2025 all 117 villages equivalent to 100 percent were connected to the electricity service through various projects implemented by the Government.

Responding to the question of the Tarime Rural MP, Mr. Call Waitara who wanted to know the people of NywAwaga, Sirari and Nyamongo when would they start connecting electricity at a price of 27,000 shillings?

Mrs. Kapinga said rural areas are connected to electricity at 27,000 shillings and on the periphery there are other projects in the city.
