Mlonganzila begins to remove tumors from the lungs using small holes

For the first time, local experts at the Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila have performed surgery to remove tumors from a patient’s lungs through small holes (Thoracoscopy).

According to the Head of the Department of Surgery MNH-Mloganzila, Dr. Eric Muhumba, the cutting-edge service was performed by Muhimbili Mloganzila experts in collaboration with Muhimbili Upanga where this service began to be provided.

Dr. Muhumba said the benefits of the service include the patient reducing pain during and after surgery, reducing the time spent in the hospital, especially in the intensive care unit, the patient not having a large wound and large scars.

“We have been providing these services in the past by opening the chest and removing tumors but for the first time we have succeeded in using small holes and the patient is doing well, the experts continue to monitor him closely” said, Dr. Muhumba

Dr. Muhumba said the success of the best lung care services, including micro-intubations, has been due to the huge investment made in the health sector, including training specialists, the availability of modern medical equipment to provide services, and a conducive and friendly working environment.

Muhimbili-Mloganzila National Hospital has distinguished itself by introducing many best lung care services, reducing the inconvenience and cost for Tanzanians to travel abroad to seek these services and attracting people from neighboring countries to benefit from the services available in the country.
