The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga, has said that the Government through the Rural Energy Agency (REA) has completed the work of electrifying all Villages in Tanzania Mainland and power is now being directed to the subdistricts.
Mrs. Kapinga explained that, in addition to the ongoing work of electrifying the subdistricts, the Government has a strategy to electrify 9,000 Subdistricts in the next financial year of 2025/26.
She said this, on April 09, 2025 in parliament in Dodoma while responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Nkansi South, Mr. Vicent Mbogo who asked when the Government will electrify the Subdistricts in Nkansi South Constituency.
“Lupata Subdistrict in Kizumbi Ward will receive electricity through the 15 Subdistricts per Member of Parliament project and Lwela Subdistrict in Mpembe Ward will receive electricity through future projects”, said Ms. Kapinga
Responding to a question by Momba MP, Mr. Condester Sichwale who asked what the Government’s strategy is to provide electricity to Subdistricts in Ndarambu, Msangano and Kamsambu Divisions, Ms. Kapinga said the Government has a strategy to implement electricity projects in Subdistricts and is currently implementing a project to provide electricity to 15 Subdistricts in each Constituency.
She said that in the 15 Subdistrict projects, contractors have completed initial work and are currently in the process of obtaining equipment.
