Government Information Officers to be trained in Zanzibar

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports who is also the Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, has urged Government Information Officers to recognize that their visit to Zanzibar for the Working Session is for training and consideration of all that will be directed and reminded on the implementation of their responsibilities.

Mr. Msigwa explained this during the opening of the 20th Working Session of Government Information Officers held at the New Amaan Hotel Zanzibar, April 3, 2025.

“This is a training and consideration session, we educate and consider Information Officers, Communication, Relations and Government Protocol” emphasized Mr. Msigwa

He stated the objectives of the Working Session for Government Information Officers as strengthening Government communication with the public through capacity building programs for employees as well as strengthening the Union and exchanging experiences.

For his part, the Minister of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports Zanzibar, Mrs. Tabia Maulid Mwita, has expressed her gratitude for the acceptance of her request for the Working Session to be held in Zanzibar and cited the main reasons for doing so, including for the Information Officers to witness various tourism, sports and major developments in Zanzibar.

“The main objective of requesting this Working Session to be held in Zanzibar is to continue strengthening our Union, the second is to enable the Information Officers to come and see the current Zanzibar of Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, so they will receive permission to speak for Zanzibar in Mainland Tanzania and around the world”, Ms. Tabia

She has promised that her Ministry of Information Tanzania Zanzibar will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Information Tanzania Mainland in all aspects related to the Information sector in the country.

While the training is ongoing, the session has provided an opportunity for free health screening for all media stakeholders participating in the session and citizens who will arrive at the grounds of the New Amaan Hotel where specialist doctors from Muhimbili National Hospital, MOI, JKCI and Lumumba continue to provide specialist health services from April 3, 2025 until the end of the session on April 6, 2025.
