PRIMARY MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has said that the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, will continue to make further improvements to the business and investment environment to make Tanzania a safer place to invest.
Mr. Majaliwa made the statement on April 3, 2025 during the launch of the Preparations for the Second Plan to Improve the Business and Investment Environment in the Country (MKUMBI II) at the Mlimani City Hall, Dar es Salaam.
He said that through the plan he has launched, its preparations and its committees, the Government will be able to address economic, social, and technological changes and create a better environment for traders and investors.
“The Government will continue to provide sincere cooperation to all stakeholders to achieve the goals of having a good investment and business environment. It is our hope that this plan will increase productivity for our Nation and help achieve our goals of having a sustainable middle-income economy”, said Mr. Majaliwa
Speaking on the importance of MKUMBI II, the Prime Minister said that it includes attracting foreign and domestic investors, increasing employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, access to the international market for local products, promoting competitiveness and quality of products.
Mr. Majaliwa used the opportunity to urge the MKUMBI II preparatory committee to expedite the preparations for the plan so that its implementation can begin immediately and facilitate a better environment for traders and investors.
The Prime Minister has called on Government Institutions and Regulatory Authorities that will be involved in the research and evaluation to provide sincere cooperation to the committee so that it can come up with specific recommendations with broad goals for the country that will be in line with the National Vision 2050.
For his part, the Minister of State, President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo said the Government’s goal in preparing the plan includes ensuring that Tanzania becomes a better and more attractive place to do business and invest.
“The work of improving the business and investment environment is a continuous task”, he said.
He said that for the economy to grow, the business and investment environment must be reviewed and improved regularly, and that is why the national committee of experts formed has taken into account the current needs of business and investment.
