Dar es Salaam: The Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has continued to build awareness among journalists in the Dar es Salaam region about the Agency’s plans and strategies.
Speaking on behalf of the Agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Dar es Salaam Regional Manager, Engineer Geofrey Mkinga said Dar es Salaam in the implementation of the 2024/2025 budget has been approved a total of 68 billion for the rehabilitation and maintenance of Roads Km. 1,151.987 including asphalt Km. 26.04, bridges and 38 Kalavati.
He said the progress of implementation for the 2024/2025 Plans involves physical and financial implementation where the implementation up to December 2024 physical is 53 percent.
In terms of the DMDP-II project, Engineer Mkinga said a total of 8 tenders for the first phase of them, including roads with a length of 64 km at a cost of 190 billion were signed on October 23, 2024 and the projects have officially started on January 15, 2025.
He added that the second phase 9 tenders of them, including roads with a length of Km. 84.24 at a cost of 221 billion were signed on March 21, 2025 and the Contractors are continuing with the initial work of building a ‘camp site’ and laying road measurements to begin work on removing other institutional infrastructure within the project area.
