TANESCO has started providing electrical education to students

The Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) on March 27, 2025 has started a special campaign to educate children on safety first when using electricity in various primary schools in the Mara, Kagera, Mwanza, Geita and Simiyu regions.

The campaign called “Consider Safety First When Using Electricity” aims to reach primary school students and provide them with education that enables them to detect hazards that can cause accidents caused by electrical disasters and avoid the effects of such disasters.

Speaking at one of the schools visited, the Acting Marketing Manager from TANESCO, Mr. Sylvester Matiku, said that such education is important to protect children from electrical disasters as they are among the groups most affected by electrical accidents.

“The organization has decided to launch this campaign especially in the Lake Zone regions due to the recent incidents of electrical accidents that mostly affect children and so we decided to educate them to help reduce and eliminate the effects of electrical accidents”, he said

The students have been educated on the Proper Use of Electricity to save costs as well as introducing the new toll-free customer service number Mchongo 180.

In the campaign, students in various schools have had the opportunity to ask questions about electricity and the effects of electricity and how to help victims of electrical accidents.

The students have promised to convey the education they received about Electricity and Safety in the campaign to their families, relatives, relatives and friends and have requested that the education also be conveyed to Students with Special Needs.

This important campaign is ongoing in all regions in the Lake Zone.
