Dodoma: The Ministry of Health has presented 11 priorities to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and AIDS Affairs.
A statement circulated yesterday said the priorities include strengthening preventive services against epidemic diseases and non-communicable diseases, enhancing the availability and quality of health services provided at the primary to national levels.
The statement was read by the Minister of Health, Mrs. Jenista Mhagama when she presented the priorities on March 21, 2025 before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and AIDS Affairs led by the Acting Chairperson of the committee, Hon. Dr. Christine Mnzava.
“These priorities include strengthening health care financing systems in the country, including continuing the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage Act, strengthening research and the use of results from various health surveys, reproductive health services, mother and child”, said Minister Mhagama.
It said other priorities are to strengthen the availability and development of health sector experts in the middle, upper and lower levels, strengthening upper and lower level medical services and strengthening Medical Tourism in the country.
Others are to develop and manage natural and alternative medicine interventions, strengthening access to medical services against infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases and epidemics.
“Other strategic areas are to strengthen mental health services, rehabilitation services especially for children, the elderly and people with permanent disabilities”, explained Minister Mhagama in the statement.
