Regarding the success of the African Heads of State Energy Summit held on January 27-28, 2025 in Dar es Salaam, Mr. Lyatuu said that through the summit, a plan was launched that aims to increase the level of access to electricity from the current 78.4 percent to 100 percent by 2030.
He said the plan will help increase the speed of electricity connection in the country from 46 percent to 75 percent during that period.
He said the Government is saving approximately 58.4 billion shillings by connecting Kigoma Region to the National Grid, thus enabling the people of the region to develop their economic activities.

He said mining areas have continued to be connected to electricity and the project began implementation in April 2023 at a cost of 115 billion shillings.
He continued to say that the country has continued to have secure access to petroleum and diesel products.
He explained that the Government has issued a license for the development of the Ntorya Natural Gas Production Block
to ARA Petroleum Company.
The block has a natural gas reserve of 1.64 trillion cubic feet and thus, when production begins, it will enhance the availability of natural gas in the country for various uses such as generating electricity, industrial and other uses.
