UCSAF spends Shs. 374 million to install free internet in public areas

The Universal Communications Fund (UCSAF), has spent Shs. 374 million to install free internet in public areas in the country with the aim of increasing the scope of internet use.

UCSAF Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Peter Mwasalyanda speaking to journalists at the Habat MAELEZO Department Hall in Dodoma on March 27, 2025, about the achievements and direction of the fund for the four-year period of the Sixth Phase Government led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“UCSAF has installed Public Free WiFi in 7 areas and another 17 in the Sabasaba Exhibition Grounds in Dar es Salaam, to increase the scope of the Internet”, said Engineer Mwasalyanda.

He mentioned the areas where they installed the network as;

i. Lungemba Community Development College (Mafinga)
ii. Nyerere Square (Dodoma)
iii. Information and Communication Technology (CIVE) University of Dodoma
iv. Tabora Market (Tabora)
v. Kiembe Samaki (Unguja) and
vi. Buhongwa Market (Mwanza).
vii. Other 17 Areas Sabasaba Exhibition Grounds
