Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu on March 22, 2025 opened the seventh Council of Ministry of Energy Staff which reviewed, among other things, the Ministry’s draft budget for the 2025/2026 financial year and various motions submitted by TUGHE.
Opening the council, Dr. Kazungu said the Ministry of Energy will continue to implement various energy projects in the country to ensure that the country is secure in access to electricity, oil and gas.
“The Ministry of Energy will continue to implement various energy projects in the country to ensure that the country is secure in energy and in implementing this, the ministry will ensure that it manages institutions under it as well as subsidiary companies dealing with energy in the country”. Said Dr. Kazungu.
Dr. Kazungu has stated that the Ministry will continue to implement projects for the production, transportation and distribution of electricity, including connecting the National Grid to the remaining Regions of Rukwa, Kagera, Lindi and Mtwara.
The Ministry will continue to implement the National Energy Plan for the year 2025/2026 with the aim of increasing access to and connection of electricity to the citizens, increasing the contribution of renewable energy in electricity production and private organizations in the development of the energy sector and ensuring access to economic and social development.
Implementing National Grid projects, carrying out maintenance and repair of power generation plants as well as improving electricity transmission and distribution routes in suburbs, mining areas, industries and health centers.
Oil and gas sector, Dr. Kazungu said the Ministry will continue to facilitate the availability of petroleum products, through the construction of fuel stations in various parts of the country.
Dr. Kazungu stressed that the Ministry will continue to focus on facilitating the exploration, development and distribution of natural gas and implementing strategic natural gas projects including Mnazi Bay Kasikazini, the natural gas liquefaction project (Lindi), exploration, development and distribution of oil including the construction of a crude oil pipeline from Ohima (Uganda) to Chonholeani (Tanga-Tanzania).
Clean cooking energy for the year 2025/2026 The Ministry will continue to implement the strategy for the use of clean cooking energy and the National Energy Plan for the year 2030.
The Ministry will continue to encourage the private sector to strengthen access to raw materials and clean cooking energy infrastructure.
The Chairman of the Ministry of Energy Staff Chamber, Brother Zuena Msuya, was able to explain the importance of maintaining the rights of employees in order to promote the effectiveness of work in the Ministry of Energy.
