The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has pledged to work with the Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN), as well as other journalist associations that represent the needs and demands of their members. In the meeting, TBN has asked TCRA to reduce blog registration fees if not completely eliminate them.
The statement was made on March 19, 2025 in Dar es Salaam by TCRA’s Media Services Manager, Engineer Andrew Kisaka, when he met with a TBN delegation at his office, in a meeting to discuss various challenges facing bloggers in the country.
“We always like to work with associations that represent the needs and demands of their members, instead of working with individual writers… we are very happy to work with writers through their associations,” said Engineer Kisaka.
Engineer Kisaka said TCRA is pleased to meet TBN because they know that Bloggers play a very large role in local content and even in TCRA registration Bloggers play a very large role in online content.
“Therefore, TBN will be one of the best weapons to enable us as the Communications Authority in the country, who manage advertising as well as online content, to be close to you and ensure that online content brings productivity and development to the citizens,” said Engineer Kisaka.
TBN has also requested TCRA to provide regular training to bloggers to provide them with knowledge and experience in various issues of nation-building.
“We are happy to meet you today, and discuss this because Bloggers are very important in local content.
He said Bloggers are major producers of important local information that helps to be used by Artificial Intelligence (AI) institutions that are always looking for important information they find on the internet.

TBN is a bloggers association officially registered in 2014, with more than 300 members spread across the country.
