The government has invested 25.7 billion shillings in research, innovation and technology development through the National Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH).
This was stated by the Director General of the National Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Dr. Amos Nungu, while speaking to journalists about the achievements and direction of the Commission during the four years of the Sixth Phase Government on March 17, 2025, at the Information Department Offices – MAELEZO, in Dodoma.
He said that during the four years of the leadership of, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan (2021-2025), Tanzania has continued to make progress in the development of science, technology and innovation.

“This step has not only continued to strengthen the foundation of scientific development, but has also confirmed the government’s commitment to building a nation that invests in emerging technology, led by research and innovation”, said, Dr. Nungu.
He said, the Government through COSTECH, has funded more than 50 research projects in the Education, Agriculture, Health, and Environment sectors to ensure that this knowledge is used to improve the lives of Tanzanians.
He said more than 111 innovation centers have been strengthened as research is transformed into scientific solutions for society.
About 70 new companies have been registered with the results of innovators facilitated by the government.
