PRIMARY MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has led a charity tour and the launch of the 50th anniversary of the Tanzania Institute of Education (TET) where he has emphasized the institution’s leadership to increase the scope of strengthening the availability of books in all schools in the country.
The Prime Minister has said that he understands that TET is determined to print books in large quantities to achieve a ratio of one book per student, which will bring great benefits to education and the nation as a whole.
“Therefore, with the utmost sincerity, we all have to support this matter”,he said
He said this, on March 7, 2025 when he spoke after the end of the charity tour at the TET office, Mikocheni Dar es Salaam.
He said he used the opportunity to congratulate the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the major reforms he has made in the education sector in the country.
Mr. Majaliwa said that apart from TET using charity walks to raise funds for book publishing, it is good for the institution’s leadership to expand the scope of enhancing the availability of books by engaging publishing companies and private sector stakeholders to reduce printing costs.
He said the participation of stakeholders in book publishing will help solve the challenge of the shortage of books in schools, and achieve the goal of one book for one student.
“Books are a source of knowledge and development, and are important in ensuring quality education for students”, he said
Speaking about the slogan of the celebration which says one book, one student, the Prime Minister said it is in line with the national goals of ensuring that Tanzanian children receive quality education.
