In continuing to fight non-communicable diseases including heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila is continuing with a special surgery camp and reducing fat in various parts of the body for people with excess weight to reduce the impact of these diseases.

MNH-Mloganzila Surgeon, Dr. Eric Muhumba said the camp aims to help people who were struggling to lose weight in various ways without success.

Dr. Muhumba said that in addition to fighting non-communicable diseases, the camp also aims to help some people who have been experiencing pain due to some of their body parts being too large and causing back pain.
The camp, which will last for five days from February 20 to 27, 2025, is being held in collaboration with Dr. Shraddha Deshpande, a Reconstructive Surgeon from India.
So far, a total of six overweight people have undergone the surgery.
