Urambo gets a power cooling station

Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga, has said that the construction of the Uhuru power receiving and cooling station located in Urambo District, Tabora Region, has been completed.

Mrs. Kapinga said this, February 07,2025 in parliament in Dodoma while responding to a question by Urambo MP, Mrs. Margaret Sitta who wanted to know when the Government will complete the power cooling station and when it will start operating.

“Mr. Speaker, the construction of the power cooling station has been completed, currently the ongoing work is the construction of the electricity transmission line, once completed, the station will start operating”, said Hon. Kapinga

Responding to a question by Nanyumbu MP, Mr. Ally Mhata who wanted to know when the Government will reduce the price of electricity connections in Mangaka and Kilimanihewa Wards as requested by the Ministry, Mrs. Kapinga said that due to the current situation in the country, there are areas of villages and Villages where village areas are connected to electricity at a cost of 27,000 shillings.

Areas with the form of Villages-Urban are connected at a cost of 320,960 shillings so for areas of Mangaka Ward and Kilimahewa with the form of Villages-Urban are connected to electricity at a cost of 320,960 shillings.

The Government is continuing to look at whether there is a possibility of making cost improvements based on the assessment that was done.

Regarding the 105 Subdistricts that have not received electricity in Nanyumbu District, Mrs. Kapinga said that the Government is currently implementing various projects to provide electricity to Subdistricts including 15 Subdistricts for the Member of Parliament and for the next financial year, another 38 Subdistricts will be added to reduce the number of those 105 Subdistricts.
