We will not accept arguments to break peace and unity – Wassira

VICE Chairman of the Revolutionary Party (CCM) in Tanzania Mainland, Mr. Stephen Wasira CCM and its government will not agree to any resolution passed by the Party for Democracy and Development that aims to break peace, unity and national solidarity.

He said he had heard the party announce that it was going to shut down and then come up with something that has never been witnessed in the country, so he is warning in advance that this matter must follow the constitution, law, rules and guidelines of the country if it does not comply with them, CCM will not agree with them.

Mr. Wasira said this yesterday in Bunda when he addressed the public at a meeting used to launch the 48th anniversary celebrations of CCM through a public meeting held at the old Stand field.

“They said they are locking themselves up and then they come and do something that has never been seen before, I said what is it, I saw that locking themselves up there is a honeymoon because I don’t know what a honeymoon is, when people get married they lock themselves up somewhere… that is a honeymoon.

“We tell them we wish them well on their honeymoon but we tell them whatever they do on their honeymoon must follow the law, if they come with a honeymoon that disrupts peace we cannot support them.

“Peace is the basic policy of our Party and our country, we are different from other African countries we have not fought each other nor have we overthrown each other so we cannot allow a group of people to disrupt peace and we tell them in the matter of peace there is no one to spare, we will protect the peace of Tanzania at any cost,” he said.

He said, Mr. Tundu Lissu has seen the truth and importance of the election that is why he has decided he cannot boycott the election.

“I welcome him very much to the battlefield because that is the basic thing that we will contest with him”, He said

Mr. Wasira said he is confident that CCM will win a landslide victory in the 2025 general election due to the major things that have happened in the implementation of the election manifesto.

“He will field candidates, but what we are telling him is that we are prepared to win with a landslide victory, we will compete with him for councilorship, we will work with them for parliament but for the presidency, the State House will see it on television.

“You will go vote for another party so what do you get, because you do not vote just for joy, you vote for something that concerns you.

“Our President is a man of great love and has introduced a policy called 4R, one of which is reconciliation and we CCM is a party that fights for peace, we are a party that manages development, we are a party that fights for the unity of the people of Africa, those are our basic policies.

He said that CHADEMA has failed to use the opportunity provided by President Samia to sit together and discuss basic issues concerning the future of the nation.

“Our friends came and said the situation is very bad, let’s reconcile, they brought an agenda saying we should allow those who fled to return and that they will be safe, they returned and they are safe, they said they have 400 people who were arrested, cases were opened and others were imprisoned during the 2020 general election and they said they should be released but there is a procedure for release if you have a case, the procedure was followed and they were released and those who were imprisoned were pardoned by the president under his authority according to the constitution, that’s what they got.

They said we want meetings and demonstrations, they were given meetings and demonstrations, even Bunda came with their helicopter and you people of Bunda listened to them but there was nothing, I was listening to them, what will they say, they said the constitution, the constitution, now these citizens want food, they want hospitals, you come every day and you say the constitution, the constitution, they have no argument.

“They said we should expel those 19 women (MPs with special seats from CHADEMA) who were in parliament and we said they have a case, we cannot go to court and order it, we do not have that authority. They said we have refused.

“They said we should do a secret with CHADEMA to create a constitution and we said the constitution is not created by political parties, it is written by the people and we cannot conspire against Tanzanians, we are a party of all people and we cannot conspire against them,

“When they saw that we had rejected their baseless claims, they withdrew from the talks and said that there is no reconciliation now, we said that reconciliation is a policy that does not concern CHADEMA alone, we reconcile with everyone now that is where we are”, said, Mr. Wasira

Mr. Wasira said various steps have been taken based on requests and suggestions from stakeholders including changing the electoral laws including having an independent electoral commission, a move that has been implemented.
