Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Mr. Albert Chalamila on January 15, 2025 made a visit to inspect the ongoing construction project of the Expressway in Dar es Salaam and ordered the contractor to work 24 hours to complete the work quickly.
The ongoing road projects in Dar es Salaam region are from Oio towards Morocco to Mwenge, Mwenge towards Tegeta (Basihaya), Mwenge towards Ubungo (Sam Nujoma Road).
He said that the roads, when completed, will eliminate the problem of traffic congestion and solve the transportation difficulties for the citizens of Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Chalamila has thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for collaborating with various stakeholders in national development and facilitating the availability of funds for the project, which when completed will reduce the transportation problem.
The Regional Commissioner has instructed the Contractor, Tanroads to increase their efforts by strengthening good cooperation (relationship) between them and the relevant Institutions so that all issues can go together and avoid the excuse of Rain as the rainy season in Dar es Salaam is known.
Mr. Chalamila has banned the illegal business on the Morocco road to Magomeni and ordered them to stop immediately as the road is large and by doing so is polluting the City.
The Regional Commissioner has instructed Tanroads, DC, MD to sit with investors to look at how to enter into a contract to build Malls at Expressway Stations so that a person waiting for transportation can get basic services such as vouchers, medicine, toilets, and coffee
