President Samia Suluhu Hassan on January 07, 2025 attended the opening of the Bawe Island Cocoon Collection Hotel located on Bawe Island, Zanzibar.
In her speech, President Samia said the Bawe project has provided many employment opportunities for Tanzanian youth where 400 youth will benefit from the project.
President Samia said the investor of the Bawe Tourist Hotel, has spent a total of 42 million US dollars to invest in infrastructure.
She said the island has successfully invested in a water and electricity project, thus avoiding water and electricity costs.
Dr. Samia said Bawe Island has installed a system to process salt water from the Sea into clean and safe water that is suitable for human consumption, and has also installed solar power.
