The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has led hundreds of exercisers in a National Exercise Day Festival Walk on Pemba Island.
The five-kilometer walk that started from Kinyasini to Mnazi Mmoja Wete Stadium was accompanied by physical exercises.
Speaking after participating in the exercise, President Dr. Mwinyi has urged citizens to continue exercising to improve their health and avoid non-communicable diseases.
President, Dr. Mwinyi has explained that non-communicable diseases including Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity and Heart Pressure have become a Health Threat right now but are avoidable for the community to exercise.
President, Dr. Mwinyi has assured the Zanzibar Athletics Association (Zabesa) that the Government will continue to support the Festival and congratulated the Association for successfully running the Festival for 15 years and insisting on persuading more people to practice.
Speaking on the issue of Peace, President Dr. Mwinyi has urged Religious Leaders and Politicians to preach Peace to the people and stop preaching Hatred, Discrimination, Sedition and Political Discord as the country heads towards the General Elections this year.
