NMB sponsors the Mapinduzi Cup 2025 – Zanzibar

NMB BANK has announced a sponsorship of Shs. 50 million for the Zanzibar Mapinduzi Cup (Mapinduzi Cup 2025), which is expected to start on January 03, 2025 at the Gombani Stadium in Pemba Islands, which will feature National teams, instead of clubs from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar as usual.

In line with the sponsorship, NMB has also donated 100 ‘tracksuits’ worth Shs. Mil. 9 to be worn by Zanzibar Government leaders on National Exercise Day (January 1, 2025), which is part of the 61st Anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution, whose theme is ‘Peace, Unity and Solidarity for Our Development – Revolution Always’.

The handover ceremony of the sponsorship cheques and the tracksuits was held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports in Zanzibar, where the Acting Manager of NMB Zanzibar Region, Ahmed Jumaa Nassor, handed them over to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Fatma Hamad Rajabu, in the presence of the NMB Zanzibar Public Relations Manager, Jaha Khamisi.

Speaking during the ceremony after receiving the cheques, Mrs. Fatma thanked NMB for their contribution, cooperation and unity they show to the Zanzibar Government led by President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, and called on them to maintain these partnerships for the welfare of Zanzibar and the development of Zanzibari in general.

He noted that NMB’s contribution and participation is not only in the Zanzibar Revolutionary Celebrations, but is always at the forefront of shaping the development of the islands and its residents and in many fields, including sports, where it has made sufficient contributions to sponsor the Mapinduzi Cup for several years and contributing to the increase in employment through sports.

“Many Zanzibari are served by NMB and the majority of them aim to enable the bank to increase their income so that they too can benefit from the contribution to the development of Zanzibar and its people.

We congratulate you for sponsoring the National Training Day, but also for your generous sponsorship of the Mapinduzi Cup 2025.

“Unlike all the years where clubs participate in the Mapinduzi Cup, this year National teams will play, including the Zanzibar Heroes. Our call as the Government, we urge Zanzibaris to come out in large numbers to the Gombani Stadium in Pemba, to support their team to retain the title of the tournament,” said Ms. Fatma.

The Acting Manager of NMB Zanzibar Region, Mr. Ahmed Jumaa Nassor, said his bank feels proud to be part of the Shamrashamra za Mapinduzi ya Zanzibar for 12 years now and that it recognizes and appreciates the contribution of the Zanzibar Government in creating an enabling environment for them to serve Zanzibaris and support the development efforts of the people.

“NMB has been a great partner of both Governments (Zanzibar and Tanzania), so it is an honor to continue to be part of the Shamrashamra za 61 Ancien Mapinduzi Matukuzi ya Zanzibar.

“We are here to do two things, both related to the celebrations that begin on January 1 and end on January 13, one day after the culmination of the 61st Anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.

“Today we present to you 100 tracksuits to be worn by participants of the National Exercise Day in Zanzibar on January 1, believing that this contribution will serve as a catalyst in the continuation of the enthusiasm for exercise among Zanzibari, we also present to you a check for the sponsorship of the Mapinduzi Cup competition, worth Shs. 50 million,” said Mr. Ahmed and added:

“This sponsorship along with these equipment is a clear indication and proof that NMB values ​​sports, as our health is further enhanced through sports and good health is the catalyst for economic growth for individuals and the Nation as a whole.

“It is a great honor for us to continue collaborating with the Government for 12 years of NMB being part of the completion of these events throughout that period,” stressed Mr. Ahmed
