Muhimbili Mloganzila National Hospital has arrested Mr. Steven Julius on suspicion of theft of patients’ property, including the phones of patients admitted to the hospital by pretending to be an employee of Muhimbili Mloganzila as a Nursing Officer.
The statement released today and circulated in the media said the Muhimbili leadership has succeeded in catching the ‘fake’ worker who is also a thief due to its security systems.
The statement continued to say after the interview, Mr. Julius has admitted to stealing three phones, two of which he sold to a resident of Kibamba and one to a person who lives outside Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Julius said that after completing nursing internship, he has worked in several hospitals in Dar es Salaam where he was fired due to moral violations including theft.
The suspect has been brought to the Gogoni Police Station in Kibamba for legal procedures.
The leadership of Muhimbili National Hospital wants to assure the community that it has strong security systems to identify all people entering and leaving the hospital and that is why it has been able to track down this suspect and arrest him.
An incident like this happened on December 04, 2024 where a person who pretended to be a servant of the hospital was arrested.
