Tanzania and Uganda continue to strengthen cooperation

📌 Oil and Gas Industries 📌 The Oil Pipeline Project reaches 47 percent

Deputy Secretary General Ministry of Energy, Dr. James Mataragio has said that the countries of Tanzania and Uganda will continue to cooperate in the development of various Energy projects including the Oil and Gas Sector.

Dr. Mataragio said this on November 22, 2024 in Dar es Salaam while speaking to journalists after participating in the Business Forum between Tanzania and Uganda.

“We are looking at how this Oil and Gas sector can contribute to the development of these two countries, we have had various discussions aimed at developing this oil and gas sector”, he said

He added that the big discussion in the Forum is to see how the countries of Tanzania and Uganda can cooperate in the oil and gas sectors.

Dr. Mataragio has said that Tanzania and Uganda have a long history of cooperation citing the EACOP crude oil pipeline project as an example.

He said the crude oil pipeline project (EACOP), Dr. Mataragio has said that it has reached 47 percent and stressed that the project is currently in the stage of laying pipes where approximately 52 kilometers of pipes have been welded and will begin to be buried in the ground.

He said the benefits of the project for the people, Tanzanians have been able to build capacity (Capacity building) in various areas and they are currently working on the project.

In terms of employment, he said the project has been able to provide more than 8000 jobs while the target is 10,000 jobs.
