Health professionals are advised to collaborate with the community in health research

The Muhimbili National Hospital (Upanga & Mloganzila) in collaboration with Uppsala University in Sweden has held an academic conference with the aim of recognizing the importance of involving the community in conducting health research and bringing positive results against the problems facing the community.

Speaking at the Conference, the Head of the MNH-Mloganzila Training, Research and Professional Consulting Division, Dr. Mwanaidi Msuya said that the training aims to increase the number of studies that directly involve the community as they are the ones who are able to explain challenges and problems they encounter in the environment they live in.

“Normally, as scientists, we look for problems that affect the community and conduct research to find answers, but through this conference we have learned and seen the importance of involving the community because they can explain to us the challenges they encounter when they arrive at the hospital to receive care”, said Dr. Mwanaidi

One of the participants of the training, who is also an Instructor from Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial College (Kivukoni), Mr. Grace Pallangyo said that the training will increase productivity in terms of solving the challenges facing the community, so this is the right time to involve the community as they are the target group.

The one-day conference has involved health experts and researchers from various institutions.
