GOBA: The voice of the child Maliki Hashimu (6), a resident of Goba, Dar es Salaam has returned to 100% after completing all the treatment steps at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) due to the serious injuries he suffered as a result of being cut by a sharp object in the neck July this year.
The injuries he received separated the airway below the voice box and caused him to be unable to breathe, speak and experience pain as well as a large amount of blood loss.
Speaking to journalists about the medical progress of the child, the Executive Director of MNH, Prof. Mohamed Janabi has said that the treatment of child Maliki has been done step by step and the experts have satisfied themselves according to the services that the child received by restoring everything that had gone wrong in his neck and that he is now safe to continue with school and his normal life.
Specialist in Neck Surgery and Head of the Nose, Throat and Mask Department, Dr. Aslam Nkya, said that when the child was brought to the hospital, he had a wound in front of the neck and it damaged the thyroid gland.
The wound was in the middle and caused the child to bleed profusely, to experience severe pain in the part called (trachea) where the air from the lungs passes so that it can go to the voice box to enable him to breathe and speak logically, all of which have been restored to their normal state.
The child’s mother, Ms. Shani Charles thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan by paying the child’s medical expenses amounting to 15 million Shillings, all the Hospital service providers who participated in attending to him until the stage he reached and allowed by the Tanzanians who were touched by the incident as well as the media that closely followed this issue and informed the public.
