Minister of State, Office of the President, Regional Administrations and Local Governments, Mr. Mohamed Mchengerwa October 24, 2024 has witnessed the signing of initial contracts for the construction of more than 168 kilometers of roads in the Dar es Salaam Region, to be built by the DMDP project, the second phase.
Speaking at the event in the Dar es Salaam region, Mr. Mchengerwa has said that a total of 19 tenders have already been announced and are in various stages of procurement where among the tenders, eight initial contracts worth 190.04 billion shillings have been signed to build a total of 63.66 kilometers of roads.
Mr. Mchengerwa has said that for the remaining contracts worth 262.46 billion shillings, 104.56 kilometers of roads will be built, which will be signed within the month of November 2024.
The second phase of the DMDP project is expected to improve the various infrastructures of the Dar es Salaam Region including roads, markets, bus stations, rainwater drains, open spaces and solid waste management.
