The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals has expressed its satisfaction with the responsibilities carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Institutions under it to strengthen the Energy Sector in the country.
The compliments have been given after the Ministry of Energy through its Rural Energy Agency (REA) and TANESCO Subsidiary Company for Construction and Repair of Electricity Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure (ETDCO) submitted information on the implementation of its duties to the Committee.
“I congratulate the Government for the way it has planned to manage the Clean Energy Strategy for Cooking so that the goal of 80 percent of Tanzanians using Clean Energy for Cooking by 2034 can be achieved”, he said, Mr. Matthew
He congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Biteko under the management of the ETDCO Company which continues to implement the project of the electricity transmission line from Tabora to Katavi which has reached 80 percent and when completed will enable the Katavi Region to be connected to the national grid.
Another project implemented by ETDCO is the construction of the electricity transmission line from Tabora to Urambo district which has reached 80 percent and is expected to improve the availability of electricity service in Urambo and surrounding areas.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga has thanked the members of the Committee for their contributions to improve the country’s energy sector.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Felchesmi Mramba has said that the Clean Energy Strategy is for ten years and currently there are initial stages of its implementation.
“This strategy has been launched in June, 2024, many things are in the early stages, we are continuing the negotiations with the agents to install meters on the gas cylinders”, said Mr. Mrabama
